Muladhara: Root Chakra

Root Chakra’s element is Earth & it governs stability, survival & security.

​

This chakra is also referred to as Muladhara, a Sanskrit word that means ‘root’ or support’.  The Root Chakra is the center of our feelings of security and survival, the core which the rest of the chakras build upon. 

It is deeply tied to the earth, controlling the instincts that allow us to feel safe and at home in our environment.  The Root Chakra grounds us so that we feel content and at peace.

When the Root Chakra is balanced, we feel steady and sure in life, helping us to trust our instincts in any situation.   A balanced Root Chakra connects us to mother earth, creates awareness of the nature's instinctual cycles and of our place in this world.  This balance helps us to live in the moment and appreciate our current situation without fear or anxiety about the future.
